William,
I'm not sure of what engine you are suggesting is at WW&F, but the # 7 engine that Arno and I remember from Edaville is at MNG in Portland.

I'm sorry, after calling up there, I was straitened out. The No.9 was an SR&RL engine that was in storage at a farm for years. It is the one retuned to the WW&F Railroad. It is soon to be rebuilt.
Sorry, Bill

William,
Please dont be sorry, as many of the original narrow gauge engines have returned to Maine to various operating museums and keeping each one streight is not an easy project. You are correct the # 9 is being rebuilt as we speak. They have recently put many hours in reworking the frame and supporting structure. It will be a beautiful piece of craftsmanship when completed. I believe Jason has a target of summer to put # 9 back inservice. They also have a wonderful website that James spends many hours updateing and makeing user friendly. Please check it out their efforts at the WW&F website http://www.wwfry.org

Subject: Any suppliers of rail in NZ or Australia?
Does anyone know of any suppliers of correct-section rail in New Zealand or Australia? I know it is fairly easily available in Europe but I cannot find a supplier near me (NZ).
Come to that, is there any interest in New Zealand in running on correct-section rail? All the lines I have seen so far (OK, I grant you, not that many) have used flat steel bar on-edge.
If there was enough interest, I could look in to producing aluminium rail - steel is an entirely different matter.
So, any existing suppliers or people interested in aluminium rail in New Zealand or Australia?

What is the story with Ikon Engineering in Pakuranga Auckland New Zealand? It would seem if they supply trains they would be doing somthing with rail?

I know that Dave Giles at Ikon imported some rail for a 15" gauge project recently.
I would possibly be interested in Steel rail, but not that keen on aluminum.
As always it comes down to a question of cost. Flat bar costs me about NZ$1600 - NZ$2000 a metric tonne. Metal costs in these parts!

They don't know of an NZ supplier of correct-section rail either.

Subject: Toolcar, other new pics and website update.
Hello,
my new toolcar is finished and put into service this week. Most of the detail stuff is scratchbuild out of wood, styrene and brass.
http://www.gerds-modellbahn.de/BCL/Fahrzeuge/Toolcar/e_Toolcar.htm
I also added new photos of my wooden dumpcars, now equiped with link&pin couplers...
http://www.gerds-modellbahn.de/BCL/Fahrzeuge/Dumpcar/e_Dumpcar.htm
And "Maggie" has been photographed outside...
http://www.gerds-modellbahn.de/BCL/Fahrzeuge/Maggie/e_Maggie.htm
I also spend some time in other updates on the website and posted icons of the planed cars for the future.
The concept of my 2"-scaled railroad will be a railroad museum for 30"-stuff from several logging, mining and narrow gauge short lines.
Actually, I started work on a workcaboose, using a similiar underframe as the toolcar. The Dumpcars, toolcar, workcaboose and a pair of disconencts for hauling snap tracks will be the work train of my railroad. With this stuff ready to run, I'll finish my steamer to get room for the museums train.
Greetings from Germany.

a new work caboose has been build this weekend and I spent time for making a couple more photos outside of my rolling stock.

Subject: Avonside 2065
Hi group members
My new 7 1/4" gauge Avonside 2065 made its first apearance in steam on the track of the Centurion Society of model engineers today. She steams and runs very well.
With boiler and side tanks full she weighs almost 650Kg is 945mm high, 600mm wide and 1525mm long, with compensated springing on the coupled axles she rides very steady.
I added a picture in Photo section (Avonside 2065) of her in steam on the track, will add a few more in the next few days.
A most enjoyable two years were spend building her from copies of orignal drawings obtained from Hunslet in the UK, and some measurements from the real locomotive which is still in working condition, and plenty of detail pictures taken.
No castings were used, machining from solid and fabrication where necesary was standard procedure.

Hannes

Subject: 7.25"-gauge Tinkerbell - A day in cab
Hello all,
yesterday, I was happy to get the chance to drive a 7.25"-gauge Tinkerbell loco ( The owner sold me his little steamer 2 years ago, that's now my Forney Chrsitine ).
It was a great feeling and I'll never forget this day. You'll find some photos here
http://www.gerds-modellbahn.de/BCL/Bilder/240308/e_Plochingen.htm:
On easter monday, I packed my train to the car and drove down to Plochingen near Stuttgart. It was fine weather and as the Forney was under steam, I started for the first round. This ends half the way with an derailment in the balast. No problem I thought, but the derailment broke the water feed pipe of the axel feed pumps... so i had to blow down the boiler and I parked the train on a siding.
I needed the time for talking to some friends and to take a look on the tinkerbell "SIAN" (7.25" gauge) of Alex Beck. Mr. Beck sold me his little steamer 2 years ago, that is now my Forney "Christine".
At this place, many thanks to Mr. Beck, that I could operate this great loco for 8-10 rounds in passenger service. It's a lot of fun, riding in this engine and it was hard to get out of the cab...
Also many thanks to the friends and railroaders in Plochingen for a very fine day and a lot of fun. I think I'll come again, but next time with more luck.

Hope you enjoy, Gerd

Subject: Edaville
I was down by there last weekend.
I drove by the back side where Mt. Urann once was...
I trespassed a little to drive down the R-O-W or what is left headed into the woods...It's hard to imagine that portion gone...
But there is was, in place of the first station plat form and Mt. Urann a new rolling development of pristine home's.
Mt. Urann and the roller coaster hill are just a mere image in the minds that remember...
Quite sad for the ones that experienced Edaville, even in later years.
Best Regards
Chris
