Hi List
I am looking for plans for a mechanical lubricator.
I read somewhere that LBSC had a plan for an oscillating pump design.

Chris,
For those a few thousand miles further away, could you give a summary of whats going on at Edaville this days? I mean, in a few lines or more, whats happening there, railroad wise, and developments you mentioned.

Why not just make them yourself. Unless you need a whole bunch, it won't take long to turn down some square stock and thread it/tap it. I'd use 1/4" square steel. It costs $0.51/ft from Online Metals in Seattle.
Well, that's what I do when I need square headed fasteners. Faster than trying to find them, usually....

Boyd,
Can't help you with the square bolts in 10-32, but I do have a source for the nuts, Fastenal. Web site www.fastenal.com or a location near you. They have square nuts from 2-56 through 1 1/2" - 6. Part number for 10-32 plain square nuts is 37615, or if you want them zinc plated they are 37616.

Hello Steve,
yes, the 2nd Annual Narrow Gauge meeting is scheduled for the first weekend in may, 02-04.
See http://www.trainmountain.org/meet_2008.asp
Sadly, I'm not able to attend, it's to far from my home.
And with the purchase of my first steam-engine - the Marie E in 5" gauge - from England, I have to collect all the spare money to finance the engine and for my planned trip next year to TM for the 2009 Triennial.
Greetings from Germany

Hubert,
There is a short note on Ollie Johnston's passing at http://www.sdrm.org
Ollie found the derelict H K Porter engine, rebuilt it and named after his wife, Marie E(stelle) and still owned the full size loco when Don Young had the building article in Live Steam.

Hello Arno,
There is a short note on Ollie Johnston's passing at http://www.sdrm.org
And at the The Home Machinist! Live steam forum, it was posted too.
And yesterday, I found a short notice in my local newspaper over here in Germany.
Ollie found the derelict H K Porter engine, rebuilt it and named after his wife, Marie E(stelle) and still owned the full size loco when Don Young had the building article in Live Steam.
Since my first thinking about buying the engine I searched and learned a lot about the Marie E including the rebuilding by Ollie. Sadly, he decided to remove the saddletank and let build a new boiler, where the steamdome is before the cab (which is a little bit short).
So, it's very hard to rebuild the model into a standard porter type, which would fit my taste much more than the Marie E.
At the moment, I'm not sure, what I will do, rebuild into a freelance-porter or into a version of Marie E, which looks better than actual.
Since this afternoon, a mock-up of the lower section of the firebox together with the grate and ashbox is on it's way northeast to Neubrandenburg, where a ceramic-propane-burner will be build. The firehole of Marie E is so small, that propane firing is in my opinion the best solution to handle the engine. And the other reason is, that I don't know how often I will fire up, so buying coal in sacks of 70 lbs and storing most of this isn't a good idea. With propane, I can shut off the valve until I'll fire the engine again.
I know, it's a 5" gauge engine, and this list is proposed to discuss narrow gauge on 7.25" or wider, but most of the layouts here are 5" and have for 7.25" only an alibi circle.
And with the rising gas- and dieselprice, it's cheaper to travel only with my car instead towing a big trailer.
Greetings from Germany
Hubert

Thanks for all of the help, will try to see if Dennis has any he will part with other wise it looks like the old flat ones. I found a dozen 10 32 ones from Power Models, I talked to the fellow who owns Coles and he can make them but its going to cost as it would be a limited hand made production deal. Will just have to make do for now and probalby use hex in some places from Coles. Thanks again everyone for your help.
Boyd still getting ready for the Narrow Gauge meet, and to those on the coast of Wa state ya gotta love global warming, I mean the snow you got today.

Subject: Some progress done on my 0-4-4 Forney (with pics)
Hello all.
Last weekend, I did good progress on my 0-4-4 steamer. I added the new valve arrangement to the backhead of the boiler. I'll add an injector the next days so I needed a secound steam valve.
I also placed the new steam whistle to the dome. The third photo show's me, sitting on the tender on top (!) of the workbench to test the handling of the levers and valves.
Next to do will be some modifications to the cab and installing the pipework for injector and handpump. I hope to get the loco ready within the next 3 weeks.

Checked with Fastenal, the nuts that they have pictured in the 8,6,and number 4-40 are all just flat nuts without any angle on them I guess they look like flat steel with a hole in them, they are a little smaller in dimension than most you buy at Home Depot so will use them for now. I do thank those who responded to my request, maybe someone will have them at TM's narrow gauge meet. Boyd lost in the sunny northwest and cold too.
