Hello all,

as promised, here is an update to what happened. I found this again in the thread on the chaski-board.

The following was posted by David "Pennsy fan":

This is a case of Not having a safety system on your electric control. It was explained to me he was putting away the train and he slipped and spun the nob to full on, the storage rack is 5' high from the ground. So as the train took off it hit a large metal bucket of bolts after gaining speed and that slid into more stored cars then stopped, then all of the train bounced off the rack to the ground. The damage to his stuff was major as it is mostly out of wood. Also some damage to a metal car body on the lower decks was also caused by the fall as the cars behind the bucket.

He plans to post some photos, but first has to ask the owner of the destroyed equipment, if he will allow that.

I will post more info, when I get them.

Greetings from Germany

Thanks for the update. All my electric locomotives that have a tethered control use a plug, the deadman circuit is through the plug. If the control is unplugged or otherwise severed the loco stops. It has saved the train on more than one occasion. Spring loaded controls have advantages and disadvantages.

Hello railroaders,

the last days, I added a steam driven gypsy winch to my Forney and turned her into a real backwoods logging Forney.
The winch is powered by a 5BI coke botle steam engine, built from a PM-Reserach kit.

Detailed description of the gypsy winch assembly are posted on my website. Just follow this link : http://www.gerds-modellbahn.de/BCRR/Winch/Winch_e.htm

Today, I made some testruns in logging operation and finally posted a video at YouTube, showing the big logging show on the Bear Creek Lumber & Railroad.

I hope you enjoy the video :

Cheers, Gerd

Hello all,

as promised, here is an update, after I got the photos of the damaged train.

This photos where done by David Lazarus and also posted on the chaski-board. He graciously allowed me to show them here:

Following his words, this is all, what is left, but the owner Lloyd Davis he is rebuilding the train, and yesterday Oskar of the Los Angeles Live Steamers posted a comment to my youtoube-video, that the engine and consist is being repaired and will be back on the rails soon.

I'm really happy to hear this and hope to see the engine sometimes again.
