What does this have to do with Live Steam?

Live Diesel?
or anything closely related to 7-1/2" gauge?

Its railroading if you don't want to see it just delete it. I like to see the videos on things other than 7.5 gauge and live steam. The moderator even has his section car on here when he was building it and it ran on gas. Dan has many of them about the hobby if you go to his web site. Enjoy the hobby its fun even the big stuff and things that don't make steam.

Hobby Relations:

While the videos ARE NOT live steam, they are train related. I've built nothing but 1.5" electric trains since '94, but that doesn't stop me from enjoying them all. The pixs and videos I have put up since '95 are ALL trains. 99% of the people enjoy as much as I enjoy sharing them, 1% as yourself does not. No one forces you look at my site and/or videos. It's like TV, if you don't like it, turn it off or delete it, quite simple. I receive positive comments galore, so one negative one just adds spice, which never hurts!

BTW all my stuff has and will always been free with no ads, ENJOY!

Didn't share it with me and a few others who are modelers of all scales only limited by time and money both of which I am getting very short of. Ok so that's a new one with me but what I know could be put in a very small thimble. What is exactly T gauge? And what does your layout look like? Send pix of it if possible. I have found that there is inspiration in most every thing modeled even things that have no prototype but are well done.

Boyd yes still at TM just got here three days ago and its cold looking like rain and the wind is blowing but its still good to be here. We had a wonderful dinner at Central Station hosted by Sharon last night. Learned a lot about steam that I never knew or was afraid to ask in public from Dennis Weaver who is a licensed steam plant operator, retired now and also tired.

Dear rghtathome,
There is NOTHING on this group's home page that mentions anything about 'Live Steam' or 'Live Diseasel'. It does say 'backyard models on 7.25" track-gauge or wider'. I'm guessing this is wider than 7.25" gage and maybe he's just having fun in his own 'backyard'!

Have Fun, Play with your Trains of ANY size!

Hey....Michale from Flori-Duh

You look at the title of this group....7-PLUS-NarrowGauge

Usually when it is stated 7 plus gauge....one assumes live steam, live diesel....or some combination there of....

Okay folks....Sorry....I don't need every jamoke from everywhere USA letting me know of thier yanxt with my initial dislike of the LINK videos.

I could have sworn within the last year I wasn't the first one to air my feelings that this guys videos weren't keeping with the 7-plus theme....

When I hear 7-plus I associate it with trains in nature i.e. 7-plus upwards of narrow gauge equipment...

I already apologised to Dan Morris....

Opinions are quite good and rghtathome has every right to express his. He apologized, which wasn't necessary, but is excepted none the less. I expressed my thoughts and anyone is welcomed to send me e-mail with comments, I get plenty. I have found the train hobby whether it being a rail fan, live steam gauge( whatever it may be) photography, videos, and web building extremely satisfying. I am originally from Chicago, had trains behind our house the day I came home from the hospital in'49. Always been a train nut and quite proud of it. My postings are for the enjoyment of anyone who models or just likes trains period. I appreciate all the comments, but at the same time I ask that rghtathome be entitled to what he thinks.

The Wonderful Wide World of Trains! YEAH........

Enjoy!

Nn3 is about as small as I'm willing to go, and I haven't done much in it since finishing the 7.5" gauge loop.

Subject: Civil Engineering for Outdoor Railroads Volume 2 - Bridges

Hi,

I was wanting to warn everyone that due to my inability to get a job or grow my business enough to sustain myself, I may be homeless by the end of the year.

My CD business is currently being set up for continuation by Tap Lines (available both on eBay and Tap Lines web site). They are still currently available at my web site.

As for my three books, "The Gainesville Midland and Her Sister Short Lines" and "Civil Engineering for Outdoor Railroads Volume 1", they will still be available through Authorhouse web site. At last check, they still came up on the Border's and Barnes & Noble book search consoles. I expect them to be still available.

As for "Civil Engineering for Outdoor Railroads Volume 2 - Bridges", I am printing them myself. If I loose my house, it will no longer be available.

"Civil Engineering for Outdoor Railroads Volume 3" was to be both like Volume 1 and a sequel to Volume 2. Several different topics including drive way crossings, tie spacing for loading, and applications for the complex information in Volume 2 (such as footings, abutments, tunnels). I doubt I'll be able to finish it before the end of the year. So it might not be published.

I have been looking for a job since March 1, 2004 and I have not been able to land one anywhere in the US. I no longer can afford to pay my own relocation expenses, so Atlanta, GA is what I have left. I have degrees in two fields (Civil and Electrical engineering) and I have been looking there as well as Walmart and Home Depot.

I do not know if jobs will become available in the future, but I am planning for worst case and selling HO and Lionel on eBay. I am planning to try to keep my machine shop for a while longer - I am trying to manufacture some HO brass models.

If you want books or CDs from me, please consider purchasing them soon. If you have any job openings, please let me know. Also, if you would like 21.787 acres of raw-undeveloped land on NS (nee-Southern Railway) on the Washington to Atlanta mainline in GA, please let me know. I've been trying to sell it for 5 years with no takers.

Thanks for your time.

Hi Mr. Morris,
Without going into a verbal boxing match, I agree with you regarding "Trains" and the various varieties, however this "Group" were set asside for 7-plus-NGM. The other pictures, discussions, movies surely should be going to anoter "Group".....wether you start it, or wether it's already in existance?
If anybody goes off topic here, it can then be open for everybody to post his/her likings on this Group? From "N" scale trains via "HO" to motorcycles and the works.
I've joined this group as it were the mouth piece for my hobby....it now gets out of hand?

Regards,
Johan Pretorius.

Sir I think that is up to the fellow who runs this group not you. What is on here is very close to what is stated. Hubert is in control of it as I remember and does a good job. Now lets get on to our hobby. And again if you don't like what someone posts as long as its railroading but not your thing just delete it and move on. I very much enjoy the people on it and meeting some in person is great. Got to talk to Hubert and his friend from across the pond at TM this year.

Boyd and yes am still at TM its cold here the frost is on the vine too. But the new route to the north end of the property is very nice took my train up and back today. Come join us at a meet one day if its possible for you Johan you will love it.

Hello all,

Sir I think that is up to the fellow who runs this group not you. What is on here is very close to what is stated. Hubert is in control of it as I remember and does a good job. Now lets get on to our hobby.

Yes, I founded this group and as written on the starting-page at yahoo, the main focus should be on narrow-gauge on 7.25" or wider.

Their is nothing here, which states this list as a livesteam-forum, and statements in this direction are not appreciated.

Daniel Morris "WAS" a member of this list nearly since the beginnen. He joined in summer 2001, and I started late spring 2000.

He posted a lot of interesting links, host the "Live Steaming in the Pacific Northwest" site and often reports their about events, which include live-steam too.

And also, nearly every of this layouts and events are for "broad"gauge, I like to see what's going on and so have no problems with his postings.

Daniel asked to be removed from the list, and I put him first on "no email", so that I can get back without big problems if he wishes.

And also, I will set the person, who started this bad thread, on moderated status.

Hope, that this clears the situation, and we can continue with the main-theme of the group.

Greetings from Germany
Hubert The Goose

Subject: Roll Models

Hi,

Just found out Paul Garin of Roll Models retired a couple of years ago.

Anyone know how to contact him? I called Roll Models, they claim they didn't know how to reach him.

I would like to talk to him about the two foot railroads of WWI.

Paul, if you are out there, please contact me. Off list would be fine! We ate spaghetti at John Wood's hunting camp in 2007.

Roy

Subject: Roll Model 2.5" couplers

I have a half dozen of the roll model 2.5" couplers and was wondering what sort of mount roll models use. The couplers have a rod on the end with the two shock springs, nuts etc but I am so used to useing the pocket and spring setup of the 1.5" couplers I just cannot see how to mount them using the setup as they are shipped and still have enough horizontal movement.
Anybody out there have experiance with these units as shipped??
I emailed Roll Models but have heard nothing back.

Thanks

Bill

What did you do with the threaded road spring thing on the end of the coupler (if anything)

The pix of their pocket looks like they just drill and pin the coupler in the 1x3 tube. Is that so with your mods??

My couplers are steel and not cast iron so I am tempted to just take some cold rolled and weld a spring and block pocket to a shortened shank and mount them the same as a 1.5" coupler.

Could you post a couple of pix of your mods either direct (vimeone@shaw.ca) or better yet in the photo section so all can see.

Thanks
Dave C.
